Our roots
We remember forward.
After Pride exists because LGBTQIA+ lives after 50 are not footnotes. They are active, surprising, joyful, complicated—and still unfolding.
Why now
Too many lives disappear between the lines of official history.
History remembers movements and milestones. A life also lives in smaller things: the person who made a city feel like home, the gathering place everyone knew, the song tied to a summer, the courage of an ordinary choice.
After Pride creates space for those details—and the laughter, love, friendship, chosen family, reinvention, and everyday memory around them. No one story stands for everyone. Each one adds to a fuller human record.
Our founder
Demetrius A. Bady
Founder, After Pride
Chief Narrative Officer, Life Stories Institute
Demetrius brings thirty years of television writing, producing, and documentary work to After Pride. His storytelling expertise is paired with historical perspective and a conviction that lives overlooked by official accounts deserve careful preservation.
He holds a BA in American Cultural Studies from the University of Michigan. After Pride grows from the meeting point of that study, a career devoted to narrative, and a belief that people should have meaningful agency in how their lives are remembered.
Our connection
A distinct home, backed by storytelling purpose.
Life Stories Institute invests in technology for capturing and organizing human stories. After Pride applies that mission to LGBTQIA+ people 50 and over, with its own community-centered voice and approach.
